Undertones of jazz with overtones of it’s offspring, Robert Jukic’s new record is yet another musical adventure. After 10 records of exploring of different styles, his new record features essentially acoustic quartet with Igor Matković on trumpet, flueglehorn and electronics, Jani Moder on guitar, Ziga Kozar on drums and Jukic on electric basses and double bass. Jukic’s original compositions are grounded in jazz tradition but the quartet approaches the material from various angles and seeks new ways of interpreting the ink.

Jukic presented in his previous records broad interests and passion for many different musical styles and landscapes and proved to be able to find his way into a given style and remodel it in a very personal manner. On “Gomme de jour” he finds another way to combine his visions of different styles and compositions and reassemble them into a set of intriguing music. A mixture of jazz, funk and rock with influences of brass bands, folkish trumpets, surf guitars, a soundtrack to a non-existant movie and more.
